The Downtown Billings Alliance (DBA) and the City of Billings are working together to improve downtown Billings by restoring several one-way streets to two-way. This collective effort aims to preserve the roadways, address safety concerns, optimize business access, and promote multi-modal activities (i.e., biking and walking). This project also includes the review and design of a road diet on Montana Avenue (east of 27th Street) for consideration in a future Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) project.
The Two-Way Restoration project is currently in the planning and design stages. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2024 depending on the availability and procurement of materials. Construction of the Montana Avenue road diet adjustments (if approved) will happen concurrent with a future MDT project. See timeline below.
